What We Offer
Therapy That Goes Deeper Than Surface-Level Support
Many people who find their way to Mindful Movements have already tried to manage on their own. They've done the reading, tried the strategies, and wondered why things still feel stuck. The truth is, some things don't resolve with willpower — they require real clinical work.
Individual therapy at our Matthews, NC practice is built on one premise: lasting change requires understanding the root of the problem, not just the symptoms on top of it. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches — including EMDR, trauma-informed care, and cognitive behavioral techniques — tailored entirely to you.
We offer in-person therapy in Matthews and telehealth sessions across North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona, Virginia, Florida, and Minnesota. Most major insurance plans are accepted, including ACA marketplace plans.
Is This Right for You?
Who We Work With
Our clients are adults — including teens and young adults — who come to therapy with intention. They're not looking for someone to tell them what to do. They want a skilled, grounded clinician who can help them figure out what's been holding them back and how to move through it.

You may be a good fit for individual therapy at Mindful Movements if you:
● Have been living with anxiety or depression and want more than coping strategies
● Are carrying trauma from childhood or past experiences that still affects you today
● Are carrying trauma from childhood or past experiences that still affects you today
● Are navigating postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, or the transition into motherhood
● Have been through a major life change — divorce, grief, job loss — and feel unsteady
● Are a high-functioning professional who looks fine on the outside but is quietly overwhelmed
● Keep repeating patterns in relationships or behavior despite genuinely wanting to change
● Are working through substance use or maintaining recovery
We are in-network with most major insurance plans, including ACA marketplace plans — which means that the cost of therapy may be more accessible than you expect.
Areas of Focus
What We Treat in Individual Therapy
Our therapists specialize in several core areas, with clinical depth that goes beyond general counseling. If you're searching for a therapist in Charlotte or Matthews, NC who has specific training in any of the following, you're in the right place.
Trauma Therapy & EMDR
We specialize in EMDR, an evidence-based therapy endorsed by the World Health Organization for PTSD and complex trauma. If past experiences are still shaping how you live today, EMDR can help your nervous system process what it's been holding.
Maternal Mental Health
Specialized therapy for postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, perinatal mood disorders, and the identity shifts that come with becoming a mother.
Anxiety
Therapy
Whether anxiety shows up as chronic worry, panic, perfectionism, or avoidance, we work to understand the source — not just the symptoms.
Substance Use Support
Compassionate, nonjudgmental support for adults questioning their relationship with substances or working to maintain recovery.
Depression
Counseling
For many clients, depression looks like persistent flatness or disconnection rather than visible crisis. We address what's driving the heaviness, not just how to get through the day.
Life
Transitions
Divorce, grief, career change, relocation. Major transitions surface things we didn't know were there. Therapy gives you space to process and move forward.
The Process
What to Expect When You Start Therapy at Mindful Movements
