Rebecca Escalante MA, LCMHC
Are you feeling like something is off? Maybe feeling disconnected from yourself or others in your life? This can be a very difficult place to be that creates loneliness, isolation, and hopelessness. Luckily, you don’t have to travel this journey alone. I am here to assist you in taking charge of your life and use self determination to choose your future. I will be your fellow traveler on the path to happiness and joy, wherever that may take us.
I specialize in substance abuse, codependency, trauma, depression/anxiety, relationships, mood disorders, as well as other life stressors. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, especially teenagers and young adults. I also have a passion for working with veterans, particularly in addressing trauma and civilian obstacles, partly due to my family tie to the military.
I use a client centered, strengths based approach that helps clients feel important, validated, and empowered. I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each of my clients. I do not believe in the ‘cookie cutter’ fit of therapy and pull techniques and interventions from different models of therapy to best assist my clients. I enjoy CBT, motivational interviewing, DBT, and other empirically evidenced models to best formulate treatment plans.
I am a New York native, however I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in North Carolina. I spend my free time with my two young sons, who love playing flag football. I love visiting local restaurants and shops, and find it important to be active in my community.
